These Terms and Conditions apply to all transactions on this site.
Please read them carefully. They do not affect your statutory rights.
Terms & Conditions Last Updated – 30/09/2025
We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will take effect from the date they are posted on the site (see date above). You will be asked to read and accept the Terms and Conditions each time you place an order to ensure you are familiar with the most current version.
1. Site
The CombatEssentials.co.uk website is provided free of charge for your personal use, subject to these Terms and Conditions. By using the site, you agree to be bound by them.
All text, graphics, software and other material are owned by Combat Essentials. You may view and print pages from the site solely for placing an order with Combat Essentials. Any other use is strictly prohibited without written consent.
2. Internet Orders
You will have the opportunity to check and correct any input errors in your order until you click the Submit Order button.
After submitting an order, you will receive an Order Reference Number and details of the products ordered. These details will also be emailed to you as an acknowledgement of receipt (Order Acknowledgement). Please note: this email is not acceptance of your order.
If your payment cannot be authorised for any reason, we will notify you and may invite you to pay by another method or suggest visiting our store. Please note: products, prices and offers may differ between our store and this website.
Orders can also be placed by email, post, fax, or telephone.
3. Prices & Payments
All prices and charges on this site are in UK pounds sterling.
The total cost of your order will be the price of the products plus any applicable delivery charge. This will be displayed clearly in your shopping basket before you submit your order.
Prices, offers and products are subject to availability and may change before we accept your order. If a product becomes unavailable, we may offer an alternative or cancel the item from your order.
We make every effort to ensure information on this site is accurate. However, errors may occasionally occur. If we discover an error in the price or description of a product you have ordered, we may cancel your order at any time before dispatch (even if you have received an order confirmation email). We will contact you as soon as we become aware of the error and ask whether you wish to continue with the order at the correct price or cancel it. If cancelled, you will receive a full refund of any charges paid in advance.
We accept payment by most major credit and debit cards. Payment is taken when we process your order.
PayPal is accepted for all items on our website, except weapons (including rubber, wooden and metal) in accordance with PayPal’s Terms and Conditions.
Orders paid by cheque will not be dispatched until funds have cleared. Please allow up to 5 working days for cheques to clear.
Cheques should be made payable to Combat Essentials, with the cheque guarantee number and expiry date written clearly on the reverse.
We do not accept third-party cheques or credit cards.
A £25.00 charge will apply to any cheque returned unpaid for any reason. Debt recovery agency charges will also be passed on to the customer.
Ownership of goods passes to the purchaser only once full payment has been received.
4. Delivery & Couriers
Parcels must be signed for upon delivery. If you are not able to accept the parcel, it will be held at the local depot for 3 days. After this, the parcel will be returned to Combat Essentials at a cost of £6.99. This charge, plus a further £5.99, will be billed for re-delivery.
We recommend providing an alternative delivery address if you are unlikely to be available at your chosen address.
a. Where We Deliver
We deliver internationally. Please email us separately for international postal and courier charges.
All deliveries must be signed for, except items sent by post that are small enough to be placed through your letterbox. Please keep the receipt enclosed with your goods.
b. Delivery Charges & Options
| Option | Cost | Order Cut-Off |
| Standard 3–5 Days (Order Monday – Delivery by Thursday) | £6.50 | 9am – 3:30pm |
| UK 48 Hours (Working Days e.g. Order Sunday – Delivery by Wednesday) | £9.99 | Before 3.00pm |
Please Note – Couriers deliver Monday to Friday. If you pay for 24-hour delivery on a Friday before 1pm, your order will be delivered the following Monday (except Bank Holidays).
Small and light items sent by Royal Mail are delivered Monday – Saturday.
Occasionally, delivery times may not be met due to unforeseen reasons. In such cases, the courier will downgrade the service and refund the difference.
Surcharges
A delivery surcharge (ONLY for the zones listed below) will be added to the total order cost when debiting your account.
| Zone | Description | Postcodes | Additional Surcharge |
| Zone 2 | The Highlands and Islands of Scotland | Including postcodes IV, HS, KA27-28, KW, PA20-49, PA60-78, PH17-26, PH30-44, ZE | £5.99 |
| Zone 3 | Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly | Including postcodes BT, IM, TR21-25 | £5.99 |
NOTE – Surcharges are in addition to the stated delivery charges.
We make every effort to keep delivery charges as low as possible. Charges depend on product type, delivery option (standard 3–5 working days or premium), and whether all items are delivered together. You only pay one delivery charge per order, regardless of the number of products.
The applicable delivery charge is shown on the order form. Additional charges apply for premium delivery services. You will always see all charges before submitting your order. Occasionally, software errors may cause incorrect weight-based charges; in such cases, we will contact you and charge the correct standard rate.
For large items (e.g. staffs over 60 inches, punching bags, Wing Chun dummies), extra costs apply. Customers will be notified before processing and may confirm or cancel the order.
Goods are dispatched by a reputable carrier, using the service selected at checkout. Delivery times are estimated but may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. We cannot be held responsible for such delays.
In cases of non-delivery or missing parcels, standard investigation channels will be followed before replacements or compensation are provided.
Customers must check deliveries before signing. We will not accept liability for transit damage if goods are signed for without reference to condition.
Any damages or shortages must be reported in writing or by phone within 1 day of receipt. If the box is visibly damaged on delivery, it must be signed for as damaged.
Signed proof of carrier is required where a parcel is damaged or items are missing.
Where goods are lost, damaged or distorted after delivery but before ownership has passed, the purchaser will indemnify us against this loss, provided it has not resulted from our negligence.
Risk of loss or damage passes to you on delivery or on the first attempted delivery date.
5. Exchanges & Refunds
For most items, you have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 working days of receiving the goods. However, this right does not apply to certain items such as personalised products, special orders, DVDs, music CDs, and books that have been opened.
If you wish to cancel using this right, you must inform us in writing within 14 working days starting the day after you received the goods. Cancellation must be made by letter, fax, or email.
You must take reasonable care of the goods and return them to us promptly. Goods will not be considered to have been reasonably cared for if used beyond what would be expected when examining them in a shop before purchase.
If you need to return all or part of your order for size or item exchange, please send returns to:
Playwell Martial Arts – J34Big Yellow Storage
Quill Street
Alperton
W5 – 1DN
Items Returned Within the 14 Day Cooling-Off Period
By law, customers in the European Union have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within 14 working days after delivery.
If you withdraw within this period and there has been no error on our part, we will refund the cost of the item and the cost of sending the item to you. Return postage costs are the buyer’s responsibility.
If an error is made on our part, or you have received a faulty, damaged, or incorrect item, we will cover all postage costs. Replacements are only dispatched once the original faulty, damaged, or incorrect item has been returned to us.
- If returning an item that was part of a larger order, we will refund the per-item delivery charge you incurred.
- If returning an entire order, we will refund the per-item delivery charges and the overall delivery cost you incurred.
- For items delivered outside the UK, we will refund only standard (Airmail) postage charges.
- Where we collect an item from you, we reserve the right to recover collection costs from you.
Items Returned After the 14 Day Guarantee
If you withdraw from your purchase more than 14 days after delivery, and there has been no error on our part, we will refund only the cost of the item. Delivery and service charges will not be refunded.
For exchanges after 14 days, a £5.99 re-delivery charge applies per parcel within the UK. Please enclose payment (cheque only) for these charges, with the cheque guarantee card number written on the reverse. Include a copy of the invoice and instructions for exchange or refund.
No returns will be accepted unless previously agreed with Combat Essentials. Complaints must include the invoice number and Combat Essentials reference number.
Refunds and exchanges are only possible for goods returned in original packaging, unworn, unused, and unwashed.
We will not refund orders resulting from misuse, abuse, or incorrect ordering. Goods are not supplied for inspection or on approval. Combat Essentials cannot take responsibility for incorrect orders. If you are unsure of your size, please check our Size Guide before ordering.
Refunds issued after the 14-day period will incur an administration charge of 10% of the total invoice value.
6. Weapons
Combat Essentials weapons are sold only to persons over 18 years of age. The use and misuse of martial arts weapons involves serious risks, including injury, disability, or death.
- Weapons are sold for training and kata use only, under strict expert supervision, or for demonstration purposes, or as collectors’ items for display. Always inspect weapons before use to ensure they are in good condition.
- DO NOT USE WEAPONS FOR SPARRING OR CONTACT. Users assume all risk of injury.
- Wooden weapons used in martial arts are not covered by warranty if used for sparring, contact, or dropped during training.
- We do not accept liability for injury or damage caused by misuse of products purchased.
- Descriptions and prices are correct at the time of publishing but may change without notice. We reserve the right to invoice at current prices at the time of dispatch. Customers will be notified of increases wherever possible.
- Goods are offered subject to availability. Colours may vary; if colour choice is not available, we will dispatch the colour in stock unless otherwise arranged. Contact us to specify preferred colours.
- Due to continuous improvements in martial arts equipment, product specifications may change without notice.
- Actual products may differ from images shown. Pictures are for illustration purposes only.
We may update these Terms and Conditions occasionally. Any changes will be notified via the email address you registered with, or by announcement on the CombatEssentials.co.uk website. Changes apply to all future use of the site. If you do not accept the new Terms, you should stop using the site. Continued use indicates your agreement to the updated Terms.
Combat Essentials aims to provide the best possible service but does not guarantee that services will meet your requirements or be fault-free. If a fault occurs, please report it to Customer Services at info@combatessentials.co.uk and we will resolve it as soon as possible. Access to the site may occasionally be restricted for repairs, maintenance, or updates.
For your convenience, our site may include links to third-party websites. Combat Essentials is not responsible for external content.
Purchases of Nunchaku, Bo Staffs, Bokken, Tonfa, and Sai require customer registration to verify age (18+).
These Terms supersede all previous agreements.
7. Sales of Weapons
No weapons will be sold to persons under 18 years old, or to anyone unable to supply a valid M.A.C. licence or registered club card. Customers are reminded of the Prevention of Crime Act 1953, which prohibits carrying offensive weapons in public. A licence or club card permits purchase but not carrying of weapons in public places.
All metal weapons are sold as collectors’ or utility items only. They are not suitable for combat, nor intended to inflict injury or cause fear of injury.
8. Pre-Orders
Please note: once a pre-order has been placed and shipping labels have been created, if you choose to cancel your order, refunds will apply to the items only. Shipping label costs cannot be refunded once they have been created and paid for.
9. Customs & Import Charges
Customs and import duties are charged once the order reaches the destination country. The recipient is responsible for paying these charges, which may be unavoidable.
As these charges are outside our control, we cannot accept responsibility for them and cannot advise on the exact costs. For further information, please contact your local customs office.
If a customer refuses to pay relevant import duties or taxes to their local authorities, the order will automatically be returned to Combat Essentials. In such cases, Combat Essentials reserves the right to deduct all shipping and administrative costs from any refund due.
